Libby Chriss Libby Chriss's work blends bright colors, exaggerated layering techniques, energetic brush marks and nostalgia for summer on the Chesapeake Bay. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in painting from Virginia Tech. While at VT, she was a member of the Women's Varsity Lacrosse Team. As an athlete and an artist, Libby's works mirrors her balancing act between natural creativity and proclivity for structure of her everyday life.
Her work is both representative but hyperbolized. whether its cheerfully loose acrylics or highly-detailed yet painterly watercolors, her painting style is intentionally slow and heavily layered with sparks of energy. Each piece is the result of a deep process: never rushing or lacking purpose. When possible, she prefers to pint on the larger scale. Libby creates each painting as a buoy of light in any space. |
