John NarronJohn Narron is a contemporary painter who lives in Midlothian, VA. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in the study of painting and print making in 1995 from Virginia Commonwealth University. John studied under Javier Tapia and James Bradford who both played major influences in his evolution as an artist. Tapia encouraged John to paint on a larger scale which helped him explore gesture and surface. Bradford introduce him to the idea of "push and pull" within the composition. Johns academic paintings were oil on canvas and his animal subjects were monochromatic emphasizing the paint mediums viscosity. His textural pieces were reconized with an award at the Anderson Gallery, and were used in various interior design settings for Chris McCray and restaurant settings for John Yamashita. John works as a self employed carpenter and enjoys the tangible result of his labor. His reemergence into painting came innocently enough from simply painting with his daughters at their table. This creative outlet sparked his interest in producing again and it quickly evolved into the works we see today. John's recent acrylic on panel works are rooted in color and allude to landscape typography. He still paints on a larger scale and has interest in both the allusion and denial of visual depth on the surface field. He accomplishes this with color harmony, composition, and the impasto application of his medium.
